DJI 0664
An early-morning photograph that I captured on the summit of Corrin Hill near Fermoy, County Cork. Captured the landscape photo as sunrise had just presented over the West Waterford horizon in the distance. The low-lying valley was partially-shrouded in a mist and fog that drifted in an early-morning frosty breeze and as the sun began to rise-up over the countryside, the landscape took-on a golden perspective. In the foreground is a large stone cross with an image of the crucified Christ upon that was erected in 1932 to celebrate the Eucharistic Congress. I captured this photo on my morning trek.

 Correct Version now attached. Apologies.
A sparrowhawk in the garden at Friends of the Irish Environment on the Beara peninsula. Once almost extinct in Ireland, there are now 11,000 pairs after Rachael Carson’s ‘Silent Spring’ (published 60 years ago this month) ended the use of the toxic chemical DDT. Like other birds of prey, the sparrowhawk was poisoned by feeding on prey that had eaten contaminated grain.
