Mount Mercy College transition year Young Social Innovators project ‘Discover One Another’ is about promoting multiculturalism in the school community. The aim of the project is to educate the school community on the cultural diversity within Mount Mercy and to accept and appreciate eash other’s heritage.
The TY class held a teachers cook off on Monday the 2nd of December where the teachers cooked foods from different countries. This event raised awareness of different cuisines in different countries around the world. 
On the 6th of December the TY students held a bake off for junior and senior students. The students brought in cakes with multicultural symbols and messages on them. This event widened students’ knowledge of different countries in the world and also allowed students to display their heritage through baking.
The guest judges for the teachers bake off were Larry Tompkins (GAA Hall of Fame recipient) Maxine Hyde (Ballymaloe Chef) and Joanne O Callaghan ( former Cork Camogie captain). 
The judges for the student bake off were Joe McNamee (Irish Examiner) and Doreen O’Kelly ( Doreen’s Bakery, Model farm Road) 
They had amazing prizes which were bought with funds from a multicultural cake sale held last week. They were also sponsored by Glenilen Farm who graciously gave wooden spoons for all of the students who participated.
