12 January 1974 The first baby born at the new maternity unit at Victoria Hospital, Cork, was a little boy born to Mrs Helen Cronin of Castletownbere. Mother and baby were presented with a silver spoon to mark the occasion. Included are (l to r) Matron Elizabeth O'Brien and Staff Midwife, Nurse C. Kelleher. 646P/128
