For an ECHO feature with Samantha Halpin and her husband Ben. Two years ago, while I was six months pregnant with our first child, our lives took an unexpected turn when we received the devastating news of my husband's diagnosis with high-grade lymphoma, a form of blood cancer. Amid this turmoil, we were also in the process of obtaining authorisation from the Central Bank of Ireland for our new business, Halpin Wealth Management. Despite the daunting circumstances, we refused to succumb to despair. Throughout four gruelling months of chemotherapy, my husband battled his illness and finishing his CFP qualifications from his hospital bed and while we continued to manage our existing businesses and embarked on the journey of establishing HWM. I also had to ensure that I didn't go into early labour during this challenging time. Our journey culminated in a miraculous convergence of events: my husband completing his final round of chemotherapy on a Thursday evening, only to welcome the birth of our son, Hugo, the following morning.
