Stout Fest 2013 opened on Friday May 31 at the former Beamish and Crawford Brewery site with a performance from a songwriter whose rise to international fame over the last five years has been nothing short of meteoric - Seasick Steve. The blues ?n? country troubadour headlined the MURPHY?S 12 BAR BLUES evening, which also saw Grant Hart, formerly of US alt-rock legends Hüsker Dü, play songs from his brand new album. This great double-headers leads the way for a fantastic music programme over the weekend that also features some of the most exciting Irish live acts in Choice Music Prize winners Delorentos, dynamic Cork electro-pop duo Young Wonder, Windings and The Vincent(s), who all play as part of MURPHY?S RISING on Saturday, June 1. MURPHY?S have a real treat on store on Sunday June 2 with MURPHY?S TRADITIONS, featuring a true traditional super group in LAPD. Liam O?Flynn, Andy Irvine, Paddy Glackin & Dónal Lunny are three-quarters Planxty and the original Bothy Band fiddler. They also feature collectively past and present members of Moving Hearts, Sweeney?s Men, Mozaik, Patrick Street and numerous other ensembles of the past five plus decades of Irish music.
