XX Catherine Shanahan EE Alan Healy; Memories of the Orthopaedic Oral History Project: A special project which has brought to life memories of the former St Marys Orthopaedic Hospital in Gurranabraher was launched on Thursday. The Memories of the Orthopaedic Oral History Project has spent 12 months gathering memories of those who worked at and used the old St Mary’s Orthopaedic Hospital. The site of the former hospital is currently undergoing a multi-million euro transformation as building work nears completion on a new HSE Primary Care Centre.
The event took place on Thursday April 12th from 12.30 – 2.15pm at the Cork Folklore Project Outreach Hub at The Cathedral Visitor Centre which is under the North Cathedral to officially launch the “The Ministry of Healing”. Audio clips from the Memories of the Orthopaedic Oral History Project will also be played at the event. A small photographic display which is growing as material is presenting itself to project staff will also be available to view at the event.
NOTE- Old images have been emailed by the group to the pic desk for inclusion.
