Photo taken on Sunday evening of the American destroyer USS Porter shortly after docking in Cobh showing Statue of Annie Moore and her Brothers in the foreground Annie who sailed from Queenstown was the first emigrant to pass through Ellis Island,New York in 1892. The Statue can also be found in Ellis Island which not only represents this but also stands as a symbol of the many Irish who have embarked on that very same journey .........On Monday I read in an Article " US Navy Officer ( second in command on board USS Porter ) returns to Irish port from which his Grandfather emigrated 96 years ago !!
