Kestrel Rising. A young kestrel tests out his wings prior to taking his first flight from the depths of a Castle in Co. Waterford.

After many hours of patient waiting last month I was finally rewarded when the young kestrels started to emerge and get themselves ready for their first flight. The contrast of the light on the young kestrel coupled with the pitch darkness behind makes for an interesting picture.
